Well… a lot of people have asked… and honestly, it doesn't mean anything in English. But we love telling this story because we’re obsessed with the name too.
Long story short, Reer actually came from our very first startup idea (before we went through the pivot hell). We originally started as a consumer brand building recyclable, 3D-printed furniture, so we wanted a name that felt short, energetic, and hinted at recycling, redesigning, and redefining. That’s also why our green theme has stayed ever since. And you might still see some beautiful furniture prototypes in our office.
At the same time, our CTO Shaw is a huge fan of the movie Tenet, and we were both fascinated by palindromes (words that read the same forward and backward) because they feel intentional, balanced, and a little futuristic.
So we explored names built around “re” + palindrome + “er”, burned through two intense days of brainstorming… and found nothing that worked. Eventually, we decided to keep it simple and just go with Reer, and it stuck.
Today, the name feels even more true: we’re now re-designers of CAD workflows and re-definers of how people build the world with AI. And the open-endedness of the name reminds us that we’re always evolving, just like the tools and systems we’re building for.
What does "reer" mean?
